Landlubbers, Landlocked Winter Sea Kayak Program
(But useful to most people who paddle small boats!)

All courses are £75 per day except British Canoeing “Camp Craft & Expedition Skills” and all will be based at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
The “Camp Craft & Expedition Skills” course will involve an overnight camp, “on-site”, on the evening of Saturday 23rd February, and the fee is £92.50 (incl.camping fee and camp dinner and breakfast)
Overnight camping may be available (additional cost) for those wishing to stay for both days on any of the weekends or stay over on Friday night prior to a course or Sunday night after a course.
A discount of £5 per course will apply to any 2 or more courses booked by the same participant. Only 1 free SKANA per participant (Nav courses only). Additional fees apply for BC and ISKGA courses.

Spring Courses

Following the success of the Autumn 2018 courses based on Anglesey, we are offering again this 9-day, comprehensive and intensive Sea Kayak Development Program. All courses will be based in north Pembrokeshire for the whole period and one night of the Sea Kayak Leader Training week will be spent “under canvas”. The costs stated cover the coaching fee only & do not include any BC, LNT, ISKGA admin/certificate/provider fees or food, accommodation, transport or equipment hire. Places are limited to 6 participants only (apart from the CN&TP), so book early to avoid disappointment!

BC Sea Kayak Award Training and Assessment (3*) – 6th and 7th April
This course is aimed at up and coming Sea Kayak Award paddlers looking to improve their sea paddling skills on moderate water and, as an option, take the assessment. Over the weekend we will cover the Sea Kayak Award and Assessment.
Cost: £140 (coaching fee only)
Max. coach to participant ratio: 1:6

BC Coastal Navigation & Tidal Planning – 8th April
This one-day course covers the ‘Relevant Safety Training’ pre-requirement of the BC “Sea Kayak Leader” award and is a ‘must have’ for anyone embarking on self-led coastal sea trips

Cost: £75 (incl.SKANA)

BC Sea Kayak Leader Training, Coastal Sea Kayak Award and ISKGA training – 9th to 12th April
This intensive course is aimed at Sea Kayak Award Level (3*) paddlers looking to extend their paddling skills into more challenging conditions, or lead trips within a club or ‘mates’ paddle environment, or contemplating working in the industry.
During the week, we will be working on Dynamic Water, Coastal and Tidal Navigation, BC Guide Modules, Leave No Trace, Surf Training and ISKGA Incident Management.
Participants may be able to stay on for the following weekend (13th and 14th April) at no additional coaching charge if they wish to be ‘guinea pigs’ for those taking the Sea Kayak Leader Assessment.

Sea Kayak Leader Assessment and Coastal Sea Kayak Award – 13th and 14th April

This weekend will cover the requirements of the BC Sea Kayak Leader Assessment and Coastal Sea Kayak Award. Please check you have the prerequisites before booking the assessment.
Even if a candidate is unsuccessful in the Sea Kayak Leader Assessment, they may still qualify for the Coastal Sea Kayak Award.
