Repairs & Maintenance Courses
Learn To Repair And Maintain Your Own Kayak Or Small Boat
Smash & Bash Kayak Repair Workshop (1 day) DIY kayak and canoe repairs. Learn how to repair your own fibreglass or plastic boat, dinghy or kayak. First we smash ‘em up then you’ll learn how to make them as good as new again! I will provide you with the skills to weld together a polyethylene kayak, or produce effective and strong GRP repairs to composite kayaks. Canoe repairs too by request. We will also look at kit to take when afloat to get you back home safe & sound in the event of a mishap!
Now qualifies for 18 months of BC CPD credits!
Customised Smash & Bash (1 or 2 days) A bespoke version of the above can be adapted to suit a club’s particular requirements and can use club boats so you get double value – kit repair and tuition! Day one will provide a full club kit audit followed by repairs on your club boats with your club members learning as we go so future kit repairs can be carried out ‘in-house’.
Email me now to book in your kit audit and repair session.
RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance (1 or 2 days) This course follows the RYA syllabus and looks into basic fault finding and repairs to common problems while afloat. Very much a practical course, we will first look into the theoretical aspects and then have the opportunity to practice on the two very different engines and various parts which I provide. A slightly longer and more relaxed course can be programmed over two days and will cover in addition to the RYA syllabus, the maintenance and repair to small outboard motors, in particular the very popular HONDA 2.3hp. Both the above courses, along with the British Canoeing navigation courses, are ideal winter events for clubs and or centres.
If you think your Yacht club could benefit from the above course then email me for a chat and a quote.
